Yoga Therapy

1] Yama
2] Niyama
3] Asana
4] Pranayam

8] Samadhi.

In Sandnya Sanwardhan Sanstha, for our mentally challenged students we practice only three of them;

1] Yogasana
2] Pranayam
3] Dhyan.

1] Yogasana: Through regular practice of various asanas, the body of a person remains cheerful and stimulated throughout. It helps Skeletal, Muscular, Respiratory, Circulatory, Nervous, and Digestive system as well. It therefore helps to keep the body physically and mentally fit for a longer life span. It also helps to keep major ailments away from the person.

Amongst all yogasanas we practice 8 asanas namely,

1] Uthitavivekasana
2] Sharir Sanchalan
3] Tadasan
4] Surya Namaskar
5] Shashankasan
6] Shavasan
7] Vajrasan
8] Sandhisanchalan

2] Pranayam: Through regular practice of pranayam the inner organs of the body get thoroughly cleaned. This process helps to increase the effectiveness in the working of these organs such as brain, heart, lever, lungs, and pancreas etc.

Our students go through ten minutes pranayam session everyday in the morning immediately after prayer. They practice only Nadi Shodhan Pranayam which helps the students to improve their normal breathing.

3] Dhyana: Regular practice of Dhyana [Meditation] helps increase the inner strength of mind and soul. It helps us to become a balanced person. It also helps you to increase your confidence level. It helps you to take your wavelength on a positive path. It helps you to keep stress away from your mind.

Omkar Dhyan Sadhana is practiced by our students for 10 minutes every day. This is supposed to improve tranquility and minimizes over-activity.

Our mentally challenged students practice above three forms regularly under the professional guidance. We observe that regular practice of above mentioned yogasanas, is not only helping in reducing over activity but also in developing their tolerance and there is better command compliance from most of them.
