Developmental Therapy

Developmental therapy services can be provided at three places like

1] Center based- Here children perform exercises under the trained developmental therapist.

2] Home based – Children perform exercises in the familiar environment. Every member of the family motivates them to perform the exercises correctly.

3] School based- It is a combination of both, Center based and Home based physiotherapy. Exercises have become a part of their daily routine in the school and they perform it happily. School based physiotherapy starts at the bus stop in the morning itself and ends at the bus stop in the evening. It starts exactly when the child puts his first step in the bus and ends when he just gets down from the bus. We can assess the carrying and positioning of the child. Proper carrying and positioning of the child by their parents when they reach the bus stop in the morning plays a vital role. e.g. a spastic child. We have to keep a watch on the child’s gait pattern and his difficulties in climbing or getting down the bus e.g. diplegic child. Estimation of the help required by the child to step up and step down the bus is also made. This will help us to modify their exercises accordingly. Effort is to make them independent to climb up and down the bus.

Activities in the prayer room
Again, proper watch has to be kept on children in the prayer room to find out that they are sitting properly. Prayer includes kadam taal and clapping. Every Tuesday physical training (P.T.) is carried out. It is ensured that every child performs it to the best of his ability.
